Privacy Policy
- [DATE YOU PUBLISH]
This policy explains what personal data Monolab handles for monolab.dev and the Warden app. Contact: support@monolab.dev.
Warden runs on your PC and sends nothing about you to us. We collect only what is needed to sell you a licence, run the free trial once per computer, keep the beta list if you join it, and answer your emails.
The Warden app
Warden sends no data about you to Monolab. It has no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry and no crash reporting. Everything it records stays on your PC:
- your settings and rules
- statistics on what was blocked
- usage tracking (time spent in apps and sites), if you turn it on
- local log files
We cannot see any of it.
To work, Warden connects to these third parties directly from your PC:
- Your DNS resolver. To look up websites, Warden sends each website name you visit to a DNS resolver: Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) by default, or another one you choose in the app (for example Quad9, Google, AdGuard, OpenDNS, CleanBrowsing or Mullvad). The resolver sees those lookups and your IP address, under its own privacy policy. Without Warden, your PC would send the same lookups to your internet provider instead.
- Blocklist publishers. Warden downloads blocklists directly from the people who publish them, for example GitHub, AdGuard and the Université Toulouse Capitole. They see your IP address when the list is downloaded.
- Browser extension stores. Warden installs its own browser extension through the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons and Firefox Add-ons.
- Starting the free trial. When you press Start trial, Warden sends monolab.dev a computer identifier: a one-way hash of your PC’s hardware ID. It cannot be turned back into the hardware ID, and it contains nothing about you, your files or what you do. We store it with the date you first started a trial, so the trial runs once per computer. Nothing is sent if you never start a trial, or once you have a licence.
- Monolab’s licence list. If you have a licence, or while a trial runs, Warden downloads a public list of withdrawn activation codes from monolab.dev about once an hour. This is how it checks its licence, and it is the same file for everyone: the download sends nothing about your licence or your PC. Like any web request, it shows your IP address to our host (see section 3).
- Checking for a new version. Once a day, Warden downloads a small public file from monolab.dev that names the newest version, so it can tell you when there is one. It is the same file for everyone, and the download sends nothing about you, your licence or your PC. Like any web request, it shows your IP address to our host (see section 3).
Buying Warden Pro
Payments are handled by Polar (Polar Software Inc.), our reseller and Merchant of Record. Polar collects your payment details, billing information and email under its own privacy policy: polar.sh/legal/privacy-policy. Card payments are processed by Stripe on Polar’s behalf. We never see your card details.
After you buy, Polar sends us:
- your email address
- your country
- the order ID and what you bought
We use these only to create your activation code, email it to you, re-send it if you lose it, handle refunds and answer support questions. We do not keep a separate customer database. Your purchase record lives in Polar.
Activation codes are emailed through Resend, which processes your email address only to deliver that message.
The website
monolab.dev uses no analytics and sets no cookies of its own.
- The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes your IP address and basic request data to serve pages and protect against abuse.
- When you click a Buy button, the page loads Polar’s checkout, which may use cookies or similar technology under Polar’s privacy policy. Polar’s checkout is not loaded until you click Buy.
- The beta list. If you join the Warden beta list, we keep your email address and the day you joined, and nothing else. We use it only to email you about Warden’s beta and its launch, and we never share it. Email support@monolab.dev to be taken off the list. To stop the form being flooded, sign-ups are counted per internet address for an hour, under a one-way code made from the address rather than the address itself, and then forgotten.
Emails to support
If you email support@monolab.dev, we keep your message and email address for as long as needed to help you, and then delete them.
What we never do
We do not sell, rent or share your personal data for advertising. We do not build profiles. We do not track you across websites.
How long we keep data
- Purchase data is kept by Polar, as required for tax and accounting.
- Activation code emails are kept by our email provider only for as long as delivery logs require.
- Trial records (the computer identifier and the date the trial started) are kept for as long as Warden is sold, because their only job is to stop a second trial on the same computer. Email support@monolab.dev to have yours deleted.
- Beta list addresses are kept until you ask to be taken off the list, and deleted once the list is no longer needed.
- The withdrawn-codes list is public and contains only short fingerprints of codes, which cannot be turned back into a code or linked to a person.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 and the EU/UK GDPR, you can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Email support@monolab.dev. For payment data, you can also contact Polar directly.
Children
Warden is often installed by parents on a child’s PC. The app collects no personal data, from children or anyone else. Purchases must be made by an adult.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. If a change affects what the app sends or what we collect, we will say so on this page clearly.
